THE CLIMATE

This cool-climate region is home to some of Australia's highest altitude vineyards (some as high as 1,000 meters above sea level) and enjoys soils modelled on southern Burgundy, France. Its high altitude and gentle mountain breezes make this region a unique wine region.  Although the region is still young, its success has not gone unnoticed. It t experiences four different seasons in a year. It's not just the diversity and fine wines that make the Granite Belt famous, but this spectacular wine region also has stunning national parks, massive granite outcrops, wildflower fields and boutique bush accommodations to explore.

THE SOIL

About 200 million years old, the massive granite intrusion is the northernmost extension of the New England Plateau, a stratified plateau of hills and plains ranging in elevation from 600 to 1,500 meters (1,968 to 4,921 feet), Permian sedimentary rocks, intrusive granites, and extensive Tertiary basalts.
