Albany's cooler climate makes it a great place to make pinot noir, chardonnay, and riesling. A wine tour can be a good way to make sure you don't miss any of the 26 cellar doors scattered throughout the countryside of the region. On the Go Taste Trail, you can also rent a bike or bring your own to ride around them.

THE CLIMATE

Due to the general Mediterranean climate's wet, cool winters and warm, dry summers, the majority of Albany wines have a relatively restrained style. Since no Albany vineyard is more than 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the coast, the region has a significant maritime influence.
