Sean's great-grandparents settled in Clare in the 1860s, and over the generations the Edwards clan has owned local pubs, grocery and retail stores in Clare and has made a significant contribution to the region.

The family ran a farm combining cropping with sheep and cattle, which included planting Riesling and Grenache vines in 1966, with the help and advice from their friend, Mick Knappstein. 

As a proud fifth generation member of the Clare community, Sean's dream as a young adult, ‘’was to grow and make wine that was internationally recognised and take us around the world.’’

We are thrilled to reveal our results from the recent Halliday Wine Companion awards, which is undoubtably the most coveted show on the winery calendar.  

Crowning the list of achievements was our newly released E.B. Gleeson Cabernet Malbec 2018 and The Settler Riesling 2020, both awarded with 95 points.

Kirrihill is a boutique winery cultivating fine wines of outstanding quality and internationally recognised distinction. Kirrihill specialises in Riesling, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and other red wine varietals that capture the terroir of South Australia’s Clare Valley.

Founded in 1998 by long-time friends and locals, Sean Edwards and Rob Stanway, Matthew Lawson joined the company in 2017 as CEO and Commercial & Export Director, rounding out the partnership.

Our focus is on the pursuit of growing the best quality fruit possible, whilst managing the vineyards sustainably and respecting the individual sites. The micro-climates within the three small valleys that make up the Clare Valley region provide our winemakers with a diversity of fruit to produce elegant wines, particularly aromatic Rieslings, which speak profoundly of their place.
