Attwoods Wines

Exquisite wines from the Ballarat wine region

A feast for the senses

The label was established by Troy Walsh and his wife Jane in 2010. The property purchased was located 20km’s south of Ballarat in Victoria and as a result the family moved up there from Melbourne. Other vineyards would continue to be purchased or planted over the years and in 2018 the Livingston Family joined the winery.  They bought a passion for wine, food and a business acumen that created the perfect match to help grow the business.  Recently a vineyard complete with cellar door has been purchased near the popular spa town of Daylesford. And is now home to the brand. The winery specialises in cool climate wine styles of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Winemaker

Troy Walsh

Troy began his career in the wine industry as a Sommelier in London.  Over a 12 year period at some of London’s finest establishments, Troy honed his palette and his wine knowledge. Around 2010 Troy commenced yearly vintages between Australia and France. The wineries that Troy worked with both home and abroad used the technique of whole-bunch fermentation as part of the vinification process. This is a practice that he still adopts to this day.

The Vineyards

Wines across the Attwoods portfolio are sourced through three vineyards throughout the Ballarat wine region:

Scotsburn Vineyard (Ballarat)- This is the original home block and is located on Attwoods Road, Scotsburn. This vineyard is home to closely planted Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and sits approx. 500 above level.

Glenlyon Vineyard (Macedon Ranges)- These vineyards were taken over by Attwoods in 2019 and are also home to the cellar door and winery.  Again this property features Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with a similar altitude to that of the Scotsburn Vineyard.

Garibaldi Vineyard (Ballarat)- This is the smallest vineyard, but it provides a mighty punch. Dry grown, 25 year old vines, low yielding. When the conditions are just right stunning examples of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are crafted.

"Passionate grape growers and winemakers, we’re striving for true cool climate wines reflective of vintage and terroir."

Location, location

The popular tourist town of Daylesford, provides a fantastic backdrop to the winery and cellar door.  Located a short 10 min drive away, the town of Daylesford is home to famous mineral waters and spas. It provides the perfect place for visitors to unwind and what better way to relax after a dip in a rejuvenating mineral spa, than with a visit to the Attwood cellar door.

"The passion is to make food focussed, minimal intervention wines, reflective of vintage, trying to stay true to the philosophy of 'without great risk, you cannot achieve great rewards"
