Beechworth has never overextended itself when it comes to wine production.
Even though the temperature drops as you get higher, the mountainous High-Country landscapes and stunning wines are worth the climb. The vineyards are scattered across the landscape.
THE CLIMATE
On the continental side of the Victorian Alps, Beechworth is high up; This makes it possible for the crop to consistently ripen on warm, sunny days and cool nights that temper any heat and produce wine grapes with a natural balance and elegance. A wide range of wine styles are possible because of the continental climate and the intricate topography.
THE SOIL
The majority of the elevated land surrounding the townships of Beechworth and Stanley is covered by the Beechworth GI wine region, which extends northward through the Wooragee settlement.westward toward the lower open grazing land and the Everton Hills' edge;and south to the Murmungee basin's escarpment.
